When this setting is enabled and the user is in an ''Open and Repair'' operation, Excel assumes that the structure of the workbook is not corrupted and therefore tries to recover the whole workbook, including formulas, formatting, and Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) projects. When this setting is not enabled, Excel assumes that the structure of the workbook is corrupted and therefore does not try to recover anything other than the data in the workbook.
