Block opening of Binary file types

This policy setting controls whether the selected application can open documents that use binary file types, such as those used in Office 2003 and earlier releases. Such documents usually have the following extensions:

*Excel: .xls, .xla, .xlt, .xlm, .xlw, .xlb

*PowerPoint: .ppt, .pot, .pps, .ppa

*Word: .doc, .dot

If you enable this policy setting, users will not be able to open binary files in the selected application.

If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, users can open binary file format documents the specified application.
