Block opening of DIF and SYLK file types

This policy setting controls whether Excel 2007 can open files that use the Data Interchange Format (DIF) and Symbolic Link Format (SYLK) file types. These files usually have the following extensions, respectively: .dif, .slk.

If you enable this policy setting, users will not be able to open DIF and SYLK files in Excel 2007.

If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, Excel 2007 does not block opening DIF and SYLK files.
